Dale Price has the reputation online of “most embarrassing dad.”

If you’ve seen a video of him, you might agree. Every day for a full school year, he dressed up in a different costume and waved to his teenage son who had just boarded the school bus. I know some teenagers who would be humiliated if their parent did this.

But this father was living true to his Type 1, upward, light nature. And he stayed true all school year long! Many parents might stop at their kid’s first eye roll. But Dale Price didn’t worry about what anyone thought and kept living his truth.

Watch the video and you’ll see that a father living true to his nature was actually a good thing. Look for pictures of some of his outrageous costumes. And pay attention to how he brought the neighborhood together and what his son thought of him in the end.

What do you think? Do you admire this parent for doing what he did? And what Type do you think his son is? It might explain why he reacted to his dad the way he did at first.

You may not feel comfortable dressing in a costume to send your son off in the morning. And that’s perfectly fine! You can still go the extra mile as a parent in your own way, living true to your own nature.

You’ll be the best possible parent when live true to your nature and honor your children in living true to theirs.

Do you know the personal strengths and tendencies of your Energy Type? How have you applied those strengths to parenting? How has knowing your Type helped you understand your relationship with your own parents? Was your own father ever the world’s most embarrassing dad? Please share your comments.
