FEED YOUR P.I.G.TM P = PURPOSE + I = INTENTION = G = GOALS With Purpose and Intention you will achieve your Goals.TM Dear Debra, Are you (and your business) growing or shrinking? I don't believe there is such thing as standing still - if you're not growing, you are shrinking. And so is your business. What did you accomplish yesterday, last week, last month - that propelled your forward momentum towards continued and sustainable success? Specifically - what tasks did you complete that will lead to... Future Sales? Increased Revenue? And, more importantly - What is your intention today? What is your goal for the day? For the week? How many calls will you commit to making today? This week? This month? How many appointments? How many presentations? How many networking events will you attend this month? How many sales do you want to close this week? How much revenue do you want to generate? And, for you - the business owner - What is your exit strategy? Who is your succession plan? "I'm too busy to review my business plan." "There's too much work and too little time." "I'm so busy running on the wheel, I'm afraid everything will fall apart if I stop to take a break." We can't afford not to plan for the future. We can't afford not to get off the wheel, turn around - see where we have been - review where we are and decide where we want to go - and then make the plans to get there. So, you're in business for yourself - but, you hate to sell!

I've been a cog in the sales industry - as a sales rep; account executive; East Regional sales manager; trainer and coach for just over 20 years now, and during that time I have found that it is mainly women who are hesitant to promote themselves or the value their product and/or service provides.

If the above resonates with you, I've got a few tips that should help overcome those barriers -

1. Close your eyes - Visualize and remember the reasons you first started this business; What was your passion for? What was your mission? Your goal? Who are the people you most want to help improve their own lives?

2. Write it down!!! - Make a list of the feelings you just became aware of; Write down how you felt - What you saw - Why you are passionate about what you can offer others. Write down your goals - be specific and put a date on them now. Also, write your goals as if you have already achieved them - for example: "I am helping 1000 women business owners reach their goals by September 30, 2011." In another post, I will take you step by step on how to break down your big goals into bite sized, easy to achieve, daily goals.

3. Don't SELL - Tell your story - talk from the heart, not from the head. Focus on the individual/s to whom you are speaking - forget about the # and $ signs - they will follow if you remain focused on serving others first. Talk about your past successes; the types of individuals and/or businesses who benefited and found value from the services you provided.

4. Talk from a place of caring and teaching - Teach, educate, share your passion. Remember the passion you have for what you have to offer and be exited because you believe, without any doubt that the person/s to whom you are speaking can absolutely 100% positively benefit from your offering.

Remember to always Feed Your P.I.G.

With Purpose and Intention you will achieve your Goals.
