How Are Your New Year’s Resolutions Going?

It’s late January, 2012, and if you are like most people, you haven’t really changed too much from your daily habits of 2011.  10 years ago, it wouldn’t matter too much, however, this year will be very different (in my opinion). 

Everything Around Us Is Changing

Ask yourself these questions:

1)  Do you feel prices of food, gas, goods & services will be higher in 1 year?

2)  Do you feel taxes will be higher in 1 year?

3)  Do you feel that retirement, social security and other government programs will be around when you retire?

4)  If you keep on doing what you are doing, will your current income rise as fast as the answers to the first 3 questions?

5)  If not, now that you know where you will be in 1 year, wouldn’t it be better to make some changes Now?

Seth Godin’s Warning

Seth Godin says “People are raised on this idea that if they pay their taxes and do what they’re told, there’s some kind of safety net, or pension plan that’s waiting for them. According to Seth Godin in an interview on “The Hour”, we are at the end of the Industrial Age, and most people are totally unprepared for the changes which will take place in 2012! 

Security and “Doing What You Are Told” Is Over

There will be many changes in 2012 which have actually been predicted by Robert Kiyosaki for many years now.  The “Rules of the Game” are changing and Seth Godin says we are at the end of a 80 year Industrial Age run and it is over.   He says in the Industrial Age you got a job, you did what you were told, and you retired.  ”This Recession is a Forever Recession” and a new Age will take it’s place.

Do You Believe Winners Are Born or Made?    

I used to wonder whether “Winners and Leaders” were born or made.    I never thought of myself as either a winner or a leader.  I was more of a follower and a person who always stayed on the side or in the corner.

I Started To Study Winners

When I started my home-based business, I was told to study successful people by reading books, listening to tapes, and attending seminars.  As I studied many “winners”, I found that most of them were not winners in the beginning.  In fact, it was usually the opposite!  They did not look like they would be very successful when they were young.  However, each of them had a strong desire to learn, take action, master the skills that they needed, and be willing to do “whatever it took”, even if they were scared.  

Every Beginner Had Mentors and Heroes

Another common trait which every successful person has is that they looked up to other people in their field of interest, and sought guidance and encouragement from them.  It’s so interesting to see one famous person looking up to another person, and then seeing how that senior person also has an idol she looks up to.  It’s truly the “circle of life” and how success is emulated from generation to generation.

Real Life Examples – Josh Groban, Celine Dion, and Barbra Streisand < /h4>

I found these videos where Josh Groban started out singing at a rehearsal with Celine Dion and then became the famous singer he is today.  Then I found a video of Celine Dion who is expressing to Barbra Streisand that she has been her idol, and that Barbara completes her!  Wow!  That is so cool! And we all know how famous Celine Dion is today!

 Success Leaves Tracks

I have been studying success for over 16 years and applying success principles.  I have found that success does leave tracks!  The basic foundation principles of success are all the same.  I did a post on Charice, the young singer from the Philippines, whose story exemplifies these steps. John Assaraf of the Secret, recently posted “Research suggests that it takes at least 10,000 hrs of hands-on experience, rehearsal and practice to master a craft, sport or career. That’s 3 hours/day for 10 years or 6 hours/day for 5 years. Have you invested that much time to anything specific like a musical instrument? Playing chess? Building a business? Being a parent? Many people want to be paid like an expert, yet haven’t done what it takes to be one.“

Did You Know Surrendering Can Lead To Success?

Do you know what “surrendering” really means?  I didn’t.  I thought it was all about working hard and following my plan.    It is, in the beginning, however, there comes a time, if you surrender, success appears much faster!

Being In Flow and Synchronicity

Oprah says once you have done all you can do, then surrender!  Give it up to the Universe and release any attachment to the outcome.  This will cause you to be “in flow” and synchronicities will start to appear.

Synchronicity Is Magical 

Ready to do some joyful action?  This will make you feel good and when you feel good, you will be “in flow”.  When you are in flow, you are very happy, and when you are very happy, synchronistic events appear all the time!  It’s fun and magical!

Are You Taking Oprah’s Lifeclass?

If you are, I know you are enjoying it and learning a lot of life’s lessons.  And if not, I am writing this today because I feel it is so valuable for everyone who truly wants to become a better person. 

Lessons From The Oprah Winfrey Show

Oprah says she learned her life’s lessons from the 25 years of doing “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and she is teaching us her favorite lessons in “Oprah’s Lifeclass”.  She is offering her classes for free on the OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), and she does an interactive webinar on Fridays.  Her webinar gives the audience a chance to participate “live” with Oprah on her Facebook page, her website, and on Skype.  You can still register and watch the replays of the webinars, however, the Lifeclass shows are on OWN every weekday, and they replay the whole week on Sundays.

Lifeclass Daily Life Work

She also has a “Daily Life Work” section on her website, which asks us questions for every lesson and we can input it right on our Lifeclass website. It saves our answers and it is completely confidential.  I love this part because it requires us to apply the lesson and really “own up” to ourselves. Once we can recognize the challenge, we can now move forward.  The lifework really makes the difference in applying the lesson.

My husband, my son and I are taking Oprah’s Lifeclass together as a family. Every weeknight we go over one lesson of Oprah’s Life Work and discuss the questions together.  It has been an “eye opening” experience for all of us. Sometimes it’s very challenging facing ourselves, however, it is essential to grow and it has bonded us as a family.  We are truly having a life changing experience.  I highly recommend it!

Oprah says “you are where you are in your life because of what you believe.   Your shadow beliefs are holding you back based on what you believe about yourself.  The choices that you have made have been because of what you believe in yourself.”  Here’s a short video from one of her lifeclasses:

Ever Wonder How People Become Entrepreneurs?

I did!  Ever since I was young, I always wondered why some people could spend time with their children, travel the world, and have the freedom to do “what they wanted, when they wanted”.  

Go To School, Get A Good Job 

I thought if I “climbed the corporate ladder” and got promoted, I was doing the best thing for my family because we would have more money, more stability, and we would have the “American dream” right?  What really happened was I ended up working so hard and got promoted, however, when I “looked up” one day, my son was 8 years old!!  Where did the time go?   

 I Woke Up To What Really Mattered

I realized that if I continued to work outside of my home, I would live with the regret of not having a close relationship with my son and my husband.  I decided I wanted to “Work from Home” and I started my home based network marketing business.  I left my job shortly after that in 1995 and have been home ever since.

Listen To Your Heart

Are you happy everyday?  If you had 6 months to live, would you do the same things you do everyday?  If you have a yearning in your heart to do something else or to be with your family, please take some time to “listen to your heart“.  It’s telling you, you are not doing what your purpose in life is. In 1995, I had no clue what my purpose in life was!  I didn’t even think about why I was here.  I was working in the corporate world, going to my job day in and day out.  And it was good, I was happy, Until …one day I realized I missed 8 years of my son’s life!   Have you ever felt like that?

Having Fun While Working 

Soon after that, I found my home based business and I was having so much fun because I felt like I was truly helping other people, and making a difference in their lives.  It was fun helping people get healthy and wealthy too!  I didn’t know that I was activating the Law of Attraction because I was having fun, I was happy, and I wanted to do it all the time!  My work had become my play and my play had become my work!  Wow!

The first thing to know is that it’s all good.  Growth requires expansion and with expansion there will be some chaos.  It’s like when I decided to clean out our “spare room” in our house.  It had become a place to “dump” everything, then 2 years ago, I decided to clean it out.  In the beginning, it looked worse than before I started, because I had to go through everything and decide to trash it, donate it, or keep it.  It was a mess!   However, after a few days, when everything was organized, we had a whole new room full of space!
