gosh, this year started off with a bang and its been going like the clappers ever since! Just drawing a quick breath to let you know there's a new blog up on my blogsite with a free mp3 giveaway ...... you can get it by going to http://mymaureenobrien.blogspot.com ..... this one's a good reminder that the view and the journey is far more important than the destination, so it pays to slow down and taste both. I've just been on a gigging weekend away and had the opportunity to do exactly that. A trip to the country always calms me down - how about you? I think its something to do with the pace of life, the relaxed and friendly welcome of the locals, and the fact that I'm surrounded by the glorious evidence of nature and the Universe at work.

Hello Braveheart sisters as we head into the close of this year and the start of another year ahead, I thought it a good time to reflect on what we learned in the past 12 months. Was it a good year for you - or were you faced with some pretty challenging hurdles? I know I was. There were some downright scary periods this last year but it was also a good year for learning to live in the NOW .... to have faith that god was leading me where she wants me to go....and to trust that doors will be opened in the time and space they're supposed to be opened. None of us know how next year will shape up ....neither do we know how we will handle the challenges .....but we DO know one thing: We are strong, capable, and powerful beings with the capacity to do anything we want - and the wisdom to accept that we don't have to do everything. So go with the flow in 2010 and enjoy the amazing journey that life has in store for you.

Hi everyone I've just got back from a wonderful festival in southern NSW at a place called Gundagai. This is the 3rd year of the festival and it has a beautiful vibe. My support musician was a lovely gentle man called Nigel and we produced magic for our audiences over 2 and a half days. An exhausting weekend but amazingly uplifting. And it occurred to me over the weekend as I was catching up and sharing with friends, that the connection we have in music is like nothing else. The warmth and generosity of experienced musicians towards young up-and-comers; the encouragement for those budding musicians who will never be great but are just happy to be part of it all and making music somehow; the sharing of news and ideas with fellow artists and performers; and much more, simply reinforces the ability of music to draw people together. It's truly a universal language that crosses all barriers. And I draw an analogy in part with the BraveHeart community. A community of welcoming, likeminded women who gently encourage each other to be the best they can be. Although our interests are diverse, we come together in the song of womanhood to support, nurture, share and simply be a part of this unique community.

Oooh! I've been a member for a week or so and I've just discovered the comments thingy!! LOL ! ! ! Isn't it fun trying and learning new things [even if it IS only a new website!]? I was reminded by somebody just today of how important it is in our life to be connected with your inner child. Children have this wonderful ability to revel in the amazement of something new - no matter how small. They also have this wonderful ability to accept that this is how things ARE. Sometimes we forget these simple things as we get older, we try to control the world around us. How much easier and more enjoyable life is when we are able to live in the moment, accept the new paths on our journey, and get excited by the new scenery.

Hi Ladies a friend sent me here ....thank you Laura......and I'd love to know the people I'm connected with. So please....tell me a little about you so I can get to know my fellow members. Shall I share a little first? there was always something missing from my grown up life - not a big something, just a gap...you know that thing, don't you? I was born to do music but life took over and it wasn't until I put it back in my life after some 20 years break that I realised what had been missing. It was the little piece of the puzzle that just went ...click! It took me awhile to get the courage to leave the grown up world - with it's work-work-work-treadmill, serious wealth-building business, and responsibility overload - for the world of an artist ....with all its financial struggles, nutty people who think and behave on a different planet, artistic insecurities, and the rest. But now that I'm here .....as an unemployed, impoverished member of the artistic society.....my life is fuller, richer and happier than ever! I am truly blessed. I am no longer in a box that has been labelled by somebody else ...I'm free to be me. My music reflects the journey ....and the current resting place... check it out sometime at www.maureen.com.au and www.myspace.com/mymaureenobrien PS......tell me something about you and let me "gift" you with a free mp3
