Thoughts Escapes Me

Thought I thought I really had something to say
I think I know it just went away
I cannot believe the words found a place to hide
Usually the words are always on my side
Been sitting and staring at the page so bare
Looks real strange when the words aren't there
What can I do beyond letting this time pass
I sure hope this dead space does not last
Tomorrow is another day
I need the word to show up and not play
I am held hostage at the mercy of the few words that appear
I will consider this a time of rest and hope the words are near
Thinking now these thoughtless thoughts to fill this space
I hope that Thursday Thinking soon returns to this place!

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you
run into a wall, don't turn around and
give up. Figure out how to climb it,
go through it, or work around it."
- Michael Jordan

"What Is Standing In Your Way?"
Is it a barrier, a wall, a road block, that is keeping you standing in the stuck position? Or is the real source of your obstacles someone who is well-known and always around...YOU! If you are brave enough to admit that YOU are standing in your way, then you are well on your way to your next destination.

It is so easy to look at what is happening around you and be critical or opinionated. You have countless excuses to place the blame on any and everyone but yourself. So often YOU forget that when YOU point your finger at others the thumb is pointing at you. Are YOU standing in your own way and unable to move forward?

YOU have to decide that in order to move forward, move on, and move up...YOU have to step aside. The longer you stand in your way, the longer it will take to get to your destination. Stop making excuses for being stuck and start exercising you soul toward your achieving your goals. Take steps forward and when YOU feel yourself standing in your way, let your determination and drive push you to become your best YOU.

***Today in Black History***

Jack Johnson

John Arthur "Jack" Johnson remains one of the more colorful figures in boxing history. He became the first Black world heavyweight champion on December 26 1908, defeating Tommy Burns on the fourteenth round. He would lose only five of ninety seven professional fights.

Success did not come easy for Johnson. Flamboyant and prone to daliances with White women, his very presence was known to cause White-driven race riots. He was considered one of the most hated men in America during his career. Eventually, the Mann Act--which made it illegal to transport a woman from one state to another for the purposes of an "immoral" act--was used to chase him into exile and away from boxing for a time.

It is worth noting that on April 18 1922 a John A Johnson received patent #1418121 for the wrench. It appears that these are the same men; however, I am not sure.

Years after his death, he would be elected in the Hall of Fame as a charter member. He is considered by many to be the greatest boxer in his weight class of all time.

"Are you Challenging Life or is Life Challenging you?

“The world is falling down around you. This is the place where so many currently reside aimlessly desiring an EVICTION NOTICE. I challenge you to push up and out.” 9/24/08 ~~YoTrip

“Narrow is the road of things deemed too hard or difficult, few take the challenge to travel that path. Decide that you will be a trailblazer.” 12/23/08 ~~YoTrip

Life has a way of being challenging for all who are living it. The challenges presented can be large or small, good or bad, uplifting or down-trodding, pushing or pulling when it lands on your doorstep. Challenges do not always send a calling card, show up nice and tidy, or are what you are expecting. When challenges come you make a decision about how to handle them or the challenges make a decision about how to handle you. Are you challenging life or is life challenging you?

When life's challenges come front center to you, it forces you to decide which path to take. You can choose to let the challenge consume you and take control of your life. Or you can choose evaluate the situation and determine it a temporary station on your journey and you will get past it, go over it, move through it to get to your destination. Life's challenges will come to you but they cannot be your center.

You can choose to challenge life in such a way that you handle it and the elements it brings. When you know what you want, where you are going and how you plan on getting there, you challenge life. Your outlook on life has to be that you cannot always control the challenges but you are not fearful of facing them. By challenging life you stay ready and open to moving forward.

So when faced with a challenge in life take the time and determine: Are you challenging life or is life challenging you?

“Expect the Best”
Years ago a telecommunications giant had a slogan that would make their customers sit up and take notice. The customer service representative would say, “Thank you for calling, how may we exceed your expectations?” The leaders of this company must have felt an incredible sense of confidence to go out on a limb and set the bar high for the level of service they will give to their customers. Each time a customer connected with this company, they were greeted with what they could expect to get from their experience with the company. This company sought to give their customers the best service they could offer them.

The way this company focused on setting a tone for their customers placed them in a category of a company seeking to give the best service. All companies should be as devoted to finding a way to deliver a high level of service that exceeds their customers’ expectations. Unfortunately, customers expect the best in service and find that the reality is many companies give less than what is expected. At a time when service in the spotlight, customers are not receiving the best and are forced to deal with the reality.

Companies have an opportunity to raise the standards and the level of service they provide. Now is the time to examine how service is delivered to customers. If customers are not experiencing service that exceeds their expectations, then a company is not giving their best. Companies have to recognize that giving the customers the best service is what customers expect and more importantly what they deserve.~~YoTrip
