A Black woman reflects on her arrest in Arizona protest
Two years ago I refused to participate with a local ministry group in Santa Barbara that was advocating for immigration reform. I thought the issue was too controversial. Last week I was arrested along with 83 others for a peaceful protes in Phoenix.
A lot has changed for me in the past two years

Unfortunately, Maricopa County has the worst Sheriff in the world. I gladly would compare him to a Nazi. Currently he is being pursued by the Justice Department. Thank goodness for that. I understand your shock and dismay when arrested at a peaceful demonstration which is constitutional violation. I feel that the lack of ability for "peace" officers to follow the constitution is in direct conflict with their jobs they hold. Unfortunately, I have read a few times about the KKK infiltrating higher positions in gov't i.e. judges, senators, congressmen, and the trickle down affect to our local government. As a Jewish woman I have lived this type of ordeal and I feel it's time for "we women" and "we the people" to take our power back. If you ever need someone to talk to I am here for you! Sincerely, Tamara
