This is a petition directed at the US Houses of Congress, urging them to support the International Violence Against Women Act. It might be an idea to open this in another tab, by clicking the little plus sign on this site, since sometimes it can be impossible to just jump back to the BHW site, and I hate to see anyone having to log onto this site again. I make this mistake all the time and know how frustrating it can be. I hope this saves someone work, I am still finding my way around the net like a lot of you.

Every voice raised in support of women in the US and around the world will help. This petition was started by a woman from eastern Congo, named Ofama America. After seeing years of rape and violence against women in her region, including an elderly woman who died as a result of this sort of stupid brutal attack on anyone female, she decided to do something. She has paid dear for her actions. Men came to her home and tortured her own daughters for two days. Still, she will not stop. Can we let such a brave and awesome woman down? I hope that you will join in being a voice for her and all women around the world.

I would just post the video site, but am not certain about the copyrights, so don't want to break any rules of the board. I would recommend watching the video to get a stronger understanding of how amazing this woman is, and, like me, feel compelled to stand with her in her struggles.
