Eating The Foods I Like and Trying to Keep In Shape

To All the BraveHeartWomen, this is a subject
that I know we are all faced with. I am not going
to lie, there is nothing like some good home-
cooked food and I mean really seasoned well.
I just love to eat, and thank God that I still
manage to stay in shape. I am not a talking
about a size 5 either, I am definetly not that
small., but I was when I was younger, I guess
we all at one time or another used to be in
those tiny sizes, but those who are still, I
applaud you and congratulate you, because
there is much work to be done to keep that
size. I try to stay on diets, it dont work for me,
because I can be looking at TV and if I see
the Colonel Sanders commercial on about
that good ole Kentucky Fried Chicken, you better
believe me I grave for it and have to have it
the next day, and boy it satisfies my tastebuds.
I love good ole Chocolate Pie, Cheese-Cakes,
etc, but I try to eat these things maybe once
every 5 months. (not to bad huh?). Well believe
it or not, I am telling the truth. I exercise, but not
like I should, sometimes I be too tied! I say forget this I am going to take a bath, relax, watch tv (lifetime) and go to sleep. I know I am wrong for
this, but its the truth. God just takes care of me
because I should be big as an ox, but I thank God
I am not. I pray to God everyday just dont let me
get too fat. If it wasnt for me praying who knows
what size I would be in, so ladies I can recommend
prayer along with exercises, ask God to help you
he will, because God knows I love to eat. I am still
in a descent pant and dress size, but still could stand to lose 20 or 25 lbs and I will be happy! But
oneday ladies, I will get there, and when I do, I will
let you all know, but to those of you who are trying to lose wait dont be discouraged just take one day
at a time, and everything will work out, It is ok to
eat some of the things you like because if you
dont the dieting and exercises just dont seem
to work as well. Well this is just one woman's opionion.

I have always been able to stay thin until I about a few years ago, I tried cutting back and watch what I'm eating. The pounds continued to come on. I am always studying alternative therapies and I came across a homeopathic medication that is soooo amazing. My girlfriend who has struggled with her weight always lost almost 100 lbs!! It has been a healthy simple route and we feel great!!! I worked in An MD's office as the weight loss consultant and saw that weight loss is a difficult thing for women, especially after we hit 40 or so. Hormones change, etc. There is hope and it can be simple. It works for everyone!!

Hello girls, it's Sherri Keller'Woo in Odessa, TX I am 57 & recently diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol & high triglycerides...I have been belly dancing with home videos for 2 years & guess that kept me from having a stroke, or heart attack...LOL when I got off of the high carbs & sugar quit hurting so bad after my workouts, and just found it amazing how much sugar can make you hurt if you are'nt metabolizing it...I am a retired nurse & know must get down 40 pounds with my new health issues & so just keep on praying for God to help me maintain daily exercise & lose the weight to get blood pressure down...the beta blockers make you feel so bad sometimes & tired & convenced doctor to just give me water pill & I'd loose the weight as I like to dance & can't have anything making me feel bad & same controlling diabetes with diet..My goal with the belly dancing is to get good enough to dance for Nursing home residence & maybe have little appitizers for them while they watch the show. Would'nt that be a fun thing...Could get turbins for my son & husband & a couple of drums & have them play & march around giving little gifts...Would be fun thing. Dreams do come true! The diet thing sometimes gets depressing & makes me feel tired, but usually stretches & music exercise helps my endurance. My worst thing is I like to smoke & with having to cut down food so much really struggling with the quiting cigarettes. All the years 30 of nursing I was so busy; did'nt smoke & now so much time on my hands; I guess making reborn dolls for ebay sales is my job & taking care of family. I have bought electric cigarrets & trying to use them to quit. Anyway blessings everyone & any advise appreciated! Hugs

Hello BraveHeart Friend,

Hope this Info. is Helpful to you.

Environment & lifestyle contribute to Illness, But toxic cleansing can help reverse this. Learn how toxic cleansing promotes good health

If pressed for time Watch this Quick Video click here
http://rebchamber.isagenix.com/us/en/areyoutoxic.dhtml
Long-term protection from toxins can be achieved by living a nutritional cleansing lifestyle.

Every day we’re continually exposed to toxins in the food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the items we touch. Learning more about these potentially harmful chemicals can be critical for making decisions to protect long-term health. As with any subject, toxins are best understood through a little history.

Toxins—or xenobiotics—have always been part of the natural environment. Many of them are made by plants, bacteria, and animals as defenses to keep predators at bay. The greater the abundance of toxins in a species, the more likely they will survive. This natural arms race has produced millions of different kinds of toxins including venoms and poisons.

Human exposure to toxins also depends on how food is prepared. The use of fire was a novel way to deal with food toxins. Heat breaks down many plant and animal defenses. Another example was fermentation, in which microorganisms produce a food that is edible. As our ancestors improved upon their culinary talents, they were able to expand their palates.
http://rebchamber.isagenix.com/us/en/areyoutoxic.dhtml
Humans would eventually enjoy a wide variety of foods spanning all parts of the world. As they did, new foods and food preparation techniques would introduce new toxins. Examples are the chemicals produced by heat, such as char, nitrosamines or acrylamide, which can each be carcinogenic.

The act of living itself also comes to us at a cost. Toxins are produced within the human body from simply being alive day to day. Toxins may, at times, be used to battle foreign bacteria or viruses. These can cause harm as they work to protect the body, but after their job is done, they are detoxified through biochemical processes.

Modern World

In our modern environment, pollution and food processing has increased our toxic load considerably. Humans have added thousands of new chemicals that pollute our air and water. These toxins can often end up in our foods, not just in plants, but concentrated in the animals that we eat. Food is also laden with chemicals in form of pesticides, processing agents and artificial ingredients.

Continual flow of pollutants into water sources increases our risk of exposure to toxins.

As our bodies are endlessly exposed to toxins, the toxins can overwhelm the body’s natural detoxification defenses. A slow accumulation of toxins in our bodies may eventually disturb our natural processes.

It only adds to our toxic load when—in an age where portion sizes have grown out of proportion—we eat a lot more food than ever before. Most of the foods available are designed, not to support us nutritionally, but to appeal to the power of our taste buds. Our busy schedules have also made processed foods all the more convenient, adding to the waistline-expanding potential of sedentary lifestyles, and putting further burden on our bodies.

Human Body

The human body has had to adapt over the generations to removing varying toxic loads. Our bodies come equipped with powerful protections in forms of detoxification or cleansing systems. They are found throughout the body: in the stomach, the intestine, the liver and the kidneys.

The liver is a primary detoxification organ, metabolizing thousands of different chemicals we’re exposed to daily. Much of what we eat must pass through our livers. As the liver breaks nutrients down, it also metabolizes toxic substances. In most cases, these toxins are cleared from the blood, then eliminated through bile or urine. At other times, they can become stored in fat.

In addition, each individual cell contains its own inherent protections from the daily stresses of simply living. These include powerful detoxification and antioxidant enzymes, which help maintain cellular integrity so that the cell may function appropriately.

Nutritional Cleansing

Our ancestors found ways to enhance many of the body’s internal detoxification and cleansing systems. These nutritional cleansing methods, which have been around for thousands of years, are only now beginning to be understood. A common practice was the use of fasting along with herbal teas or special botanicals. The reduced food intake would allow the body to purify itself through rest and renewal. Botanicals such as aloe gel, licorice root and ashwaghanda root contain bioactives that encourage detoxification within the liver and in the individual cells.

Nutritional cleansing assists the liver, a primary detoxifier.

Age-old traditions of nutritional cleansing have now been combined with modern technologies. Isagenix is a company that has achieved this task with Cleanse for Life™, a drink specialized to support the liver, the immune system and cellular health with vitamins, herbal teas and other botanical ingredients. The ingredients were chosen to help protect the body from daily pollutants and promote their detoxification.

As a dietary supplement, Cleanse for Life can be taken daily for nourishment to help deal with daily toxic load and stresses. Alternatively, when taken as guided in the Cleansing and Fat Burning System—a program rich in nutrition and low in calories—one can reap benefits of “deep cleansing” and a sound approach to weight management.

Balanced nutrition and nutritional cleansing are key strategies for coping with daily toxins, but there are others. Although there’s no way to avoid all toxins, one can reduce exposure as much as possible. It can be achieved by simple lifestyle changes such as choosing clean fruits and vegetables, drinking clean water, using non-toxic skin care and seeking out fresh air whenever possible.

Hi Shirley,

I'm new to the community, but I'm not new to this topic. When I was growing up, our favorite past time seemed to be eating, and we all did it very well. However, after I joined the military over 30 years ago, I quickly learned that if I did not want to spend all of my free time working out, I needed to change my eating habits, which I did. My desire to stay in the military was my motivation. Now that I've retired my motivation is looking and being healthy. You seem to have the right attitude and I think you will be successful. If I may offer a few tips:

1. Stay positive. Don't give up. You've probably heard the old saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Keep pressing forward.

2. There are a lot of good systems/programs on the market. Find the one that's right for you. No system will work if you don't use it consistently. Find one or more that you enjoy doing. Workouts should be challenging but at the same time they should be fun. Some people like to workout with a partner, some alone, while others do a bit of both. It's your program, do what you enjoy.

3. Practice portion control. Remember, portion control and portion size are NOT necessarily the same thing.

4. BE SAFE! Consult your physician should you decide to change your workout program. Eat well-balanced meals. Make sure you're getting plenty of water and the proper nutritional supplements. And, use the exercise equipment correctly.

Oh and one more thing, keep praying!

Best wishes,

Carolyn

This has been the struggle for so many for so long that now Dr. G on TV, the Coroner, says that obesity is the second cause of death that shows up in her autopsies. Just 20lbs of fat over is now linked to cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

Our children are now over fat at least 20-30lbs in the west and 40-60lbs in the east. It's all about diet! You are what you eat they say! Unfortunately, you're not getting what you need so you crave the quick foods to give you energy and try to get proteins out of them so you wind up eating so much more than you should. Plus, you wind up eating high glycemic foods and not knowing the rules on what instigates an insulin response and what doesn't. And that makes all the difference in gaining more fat!

Please go to Dr. Vicky and Jackie's blog to see our info on Fat Loss and then also go to our community, "Real Science/Nutrition" to listen and watch Dr. Nugent talk about a new, safe and exclusive peptide technology product that is a functional food, taken 2 scoops 2 times a day and you lose fat not weight (weight is bone and muscle) at least 5 lbs a month and 2.5 inches around your waist every month.

I was on one of the 3 studies and went from a size 14 to size 9 and my husband went from size 40 pant to size 34 pant. But we gained lean muscle mass and bone density. Sleep so much deeper, have better brain function, better energy and have become more shapely.

It's about inches, not weight. All diets lose 50% fat and then 50% muscle and of course when you gain it all back, which everyone always does, you then have fat on fat! Then you become fat and flabby. With this new product, that doesn't happen!

This new product is revolutionary and it has science to back it up!

:-DEnjoy and any questions, please ask away. I am thrilled with this product and what it has done for my friends that are severe diabetics has been amazing!

Hi Shirley,

I understand what you are saying. I have been getting up walking every morning at 5:30am for the last 30 days and it took a complete mindset change. I pray while I walk. I realized if I did not do it in the morning it was not going to get done in the evening because like you by then I am tired and I want to chill in front of the TV or spend time working on my website, but either way working out is not on the agenda by then.

I have tried a couple of new things. My personal trainer said I can eat some of what I like, but increase my workout. What I have tried is not eating as much of the things I like. Over the last 30 days I have been eating smaller servings more often, drinking my water and getting the rest. It is amazing that our bodies seem to need everything to be in sync before they will yield the desired results. It took some hits and misses for me to get that. I was not losing because, while I was eating the right things, I was eating them at the wrong times and not getting the rest I needed. Try working out earlier, it has actually become one of the things I enjoy and as crazy as it sounds, I get up at that time even when I don't have to go to work or be anywhere and do the walking or working out. I know that is because God is directing me in this, because on my own I would sleep in.

Be blessed.

Hi Shirley,

Interesting blog - sounds like you have a very good relationship with food and that is good. According to Marc David, author of the Psychology of Eating, this is very important.

I am a Health Coach and my practice is based on helping overweight business women change their thought patterns and their relationship with food. It's not so much what you eat but how you eat and your thoughts about what you are eating. Practice the art of dining by creating a relaxed atmosphere and truly enjoy your food by eating slowly and chewing thoroughly. This will make a big difference in whether or not the food will cause you to gain weight and to be healthier.

The other suggestion I would like to make, if I may, is to be sure you are buying high quality food, organic and locally grown if possible. This will also make a big difference.

It warms my heart to hear you say you pray to God every day for guidance - that more than anything will keep you on the right track. Maybe that is why I happened to read your blog today and responded.
Nice thought!

Love and accept yourself exactly as you are right now and the rest will follow.

Blessings,

Julie
