Safety on our streets

Safety on our streets

Good day all,

As many of you know we live in a society of quiet cars , and also many hearing impaired persons are driving.

There have been significant numbers of accidents with Emergency Vehicles (ie; police, ambulance, fire ) across the nation, and they are increasing, as our cars become more and more insulated from the outside noise.

We need these vehicles to be able to do their jobs for OUR own safety, BUT, at the same time we do NOT want to have additional injuries or fatalities because someone didn't HEAR the sirens or SEE the lights. this is counter productive
(hurting someone while trying to get to aid someone)

not to mention losing many of the very people we need (emergency workers) who are there to keep us safe in the event we need them.

I am working on a project to better facilitate the way in which we (private citizens) are alerted to oncoming Emergency Vehicles. I need to gather some statistics, and I am asking for your help.

Please can you let me know if any of the folowing has happened to you or someone you know at any time in the last 10 years.

the information I need is the following;
1) were you or someone you know involved in an accident with an Emergency Vehicle?
2) was anyone cited for failure to yeild to and Emergency Vehicle?
3)were there any injuries or fatalities related to this accident?
4) was the reason you were in the accident, or cited, because you did not know that an Emergency Vehicle was approaching you? or from what direction it was coming?

feel free to email me@(livingalifewithpurpose@gmail.com) With any of this information.
(and please be asssured it is with the strictest of confidence) you do NOT need to include your personal information if you choose not to I just need to get and idea of the numbers.

I thank you so much for being part of the solution, to make our street a much safer place.

May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.'

I have not been in any accidents like the ones you are looking for in your fact finding mission, but if you will permit me, I will share my observations. The emergency vehicles have sufficient lights and sirens to be seen and heard, and the drivers are usually well trained professionals. So I don't think there is much that we can do to fix the EV.

I have noticed more and more lately that the other cars on the road just don't care very much anymore. I commute through a big city that has EVs on the road very frequently. Even when people know that an EV is there, they don't pull over or do anything to get out of the way. Some do pull over, but many don't, I don't think it's the sound proofing in the cars. There seems to be a growing apathy for EVs. Like they are just another inconvenience to get around to avoid being delayed.

When people don't pull over, law enforcement is usually so concerned about answering the original call that they can't take time to stop and issue tickets to people who fail to yield. If there are no consequences for the motorist that failed to yield, why care? I don't mean to imply anything spiteful here, I just think too many people are so busy and so focused on their own plans and their own needs that they don't see the issue from the perspective of the person that placed the call to 911.

I think the answer is in re-educating the public. Remind people that the flashing lights and sirens means that someones life is in serious jeopardy. I think the answer is in finding away diminish the apathy, and drive home the importance of yielding to EVs. I think the root of the problem is that too many people don't really grasp the reality that the lights and sirens means that EVERY second counts. I think everyone knows this when they think about it, but if they haven't personally experienced an emergency situation, they don't really grasp the full depth of it.

I think public awareness needs more fixing than the EVs.
