The best things I've ever done for myself are: 1. I'm losing weight and exercising, 2. Appreciating the family and friends that I have and 3. Started an online business that I know is going to solve my financial worries. Good luck everyone! -- Nancy Gleason P.S.Get your Free copy of "Success in 10 Steps" today. This is a great question! I think the best thing I have done for myself and the thing that has created the most change in my life (which was also the beginning of the opening of the doors of truth as to who I am) was my decision to NOT return to work outside the home after my oldest son passed away. My 17 year old son, Jeffrey passed on April 23, 2000 which was Easter that year. I was a stay-at-home mom for most of those 17 years working part time jobs here and there, however in 2000 I was working full time as a Customer Service Warranty Rep for a local home builder. As much as I liked contributing to the world via the workforce it was becoming more and more evident that my boys (Jeffrey, Justin and Joshua) needed me there when they got home from school. I struggled with my own need to 'be more' than a stay-at-home mom and their need to have me there. After Jeffrey died a lot of people said the best thing I could do/what I NEEDED to do/what I SHOULD do was go right back to work. After a month of indecision and with full knowledge that it would be financially difficult to do so I decided to let my full time job go. I started exploring the world of digital art and expressing my feelings through digital paintings. I talk about this in more detail on my web site lisasbotanicals.com and also have an archive of my digital paintings at mysticalmodality.com. It was through this exploration, the following of my passion to be creative, the letting go of what others thought best for me, the synchronicity of events that followed that decision to stay at home with my boys that I now find myself doing something that I love and in the process am creating a wonderful life for myself. I think the most interesting thing about the 10 years since I made the decision that sent my life in a new direction is that I did it without the knowledge of the Laws of Attraction. It is only in the past few years that I've been exploring conscious creation. I am excited to see what I can create for myself now that I am understanding more and more about the processes of passion, purpose and prosperity. Have a wonderful, enlightened day! Lisa

Earlene, I had about the same situation, letting go of others expectations of "who/what" I should be. Trying to be what others thought I should be was driving me over the edge time after time, and it was hard to keep putting the pieces back together again. I had to learn to live my life according to my plans and be strong enough to tell those who want to 'run' my life that their plans might be right for them, but not me! I too had to realize that I did not "have" to have a partner in life to suceed on my own, although men seem to think I do, which I correct them on that too. I am my own person, whatever I choose to make for myself, it's my decision, no one else's. I also try to practice this with my daughter who is out on her own making her own choices, right or wrong, their hers to live out. It is wonderful to have supportive friends, but I agree with you on this 100%: "...we do not need people to make us happy, we must make ourselves happy then have people in our life!" Letting go of the past and trying to please others, find approval for who I am and am not according to 'them'. This has held me back for a very long time and it has taken me some time on Planet Earth to figure out I am ME, they are they and neither of us can change the other to please us! Wow! That was powerful. This change has just come about and I thank one beautiful individual that came into my life about 3 months ago for waking me up, trusting and believing in me, found a wonderful company, found Braveheart Woman again and found myself. This is the Best Thing I Have Done for Myself NOW! The Best Things I Ever Did was realize early I did not need a man in my life to be happy, but they just kept coming in! Releasing that 'need' was the greatest lesson I ever learned. Created situations, we do not need people to make us happy, we must make ourselves happy then have people in our life! -- Earlene J. Kirkpatrick

good for you. Sometimes it's not about the money but about the joy and happiness you get out of what you are doing. unfortunately a lot of us are stuck in unfulfilling jobs because we need the paycheck. best of luck to you.

The best thing I did for myself lately… was to quit a job where I did not feel value and did not have opportunities to grow towards my field. It was a good opportunity to have it at that time, but I need to think about my future. I am aware of the way the economy is lately but every day I wake up with a big smile on my face knowing that a better job opportunity is coming my way. Thanks!

The best thing I ever did for myself was to get away from an abusive relationship. It took 15 years to get the strength to do it. I was with him from 17 to just about 32, had 3 children and was living in hell. Nothing changed on his part so I had to be the stronger one and do what I had to get away. I went to school and got my associates when my first child was a baby, then got my Bachelor's degree when I was nine months pregnant with my second. Nothing kept me from going to school. Not black eyes, bruises, and no car, nothing. I had to prove not only to him but to myself he wasn't going to stop me. So at 27 I had a 9 year old, a 2 year old and a newborn. I stayed for way too long. I finally got the strength on December 1, 2001. All I said to him was GET OUT and I never looked back. I am an independent, determined, beautiful woman that can do anything I put my mind to.

Ms. Michelle! Very cool website. It's a great idea - a place for people to tell their stories. I will send people there. Nice job. Congratulations on your enrollment in school, too. I got my Masters in Psychology. It's a great major to be in while you're discovering yourself. Have fun with it. Be Bold, Sonya www.omfreely.com

Keep up the good work. I too went back to school later in life. And it did help my situation at the time. For I was able to earn a better income. And although getting educated traditionally has its value. As I get on in life I realize being educated does not define who we are. For truly we never stop learning. Life is one big lesson. I tell all I am a perpetual student. -- Don't Take One Day at a Time. Take One Second at a Time.
