My Celebration of the Declaration I am an artist. "Hallelujah" written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and originally released in 1984 achieved little initial success. But into the 90's it became a popular cover song. Jeff Buckey's performance is believed it to be the definitive version and I love the version in Shrek. And here it is 2010 and the world takes notice of Hallelujah once again. K.D. Lang sings Hallelujah during the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. A few weeks before Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris sing Hallelujah in the Hope For Haiti Telethon. In the telethon and at the Olympic opening ceremonies the song brought many to tears in awe and if you read through the internet comments about the performances you can see "it was the highlight". In researching this post it is reported Cohen is now 75 and living in Montreal. I grew up listening to Leonard Cohen's music. As a kid I found his words thought provoking and heart moving. His legacy will be so many deep poetic and lyrical songs. I've put a few amateur photo videos together and it takes time and a few hours listening to the song as you try and fit in the pictures. As I did this project I would cry in certain parts but I really wanted to get the video done so had to make myself not react. An interesting experience. This version is by a young singer, Kate VoegeleI. I love her voice and her version. And for those of you that truly know me know how much I support new artists and musicians.
