Stories of Everyday Women Empowering Women to Seek Their Dreams

Let These Empowering Women’s Success Motivate You

Successful Women Who Persevered

For many women, part of planning to start a new small business involves sloughing through the doubters and detractors. It’s easy for someone just reading about these problems to suggest that women in that position should “toughen up and ignore it.” But for women who have seen their great ideas and flawless business proposals turned down for loan after loan, this reality can be difficult to handle. Part of empowering women, both those struggling against baseless societal beliefs and those trying to support others, entails offering them real success stories, reasons to take heart.

These are just a few great examples of everyday-women who, with the help of support networks, fought through it all to succeed. They are great pieces to share on every social network for women.

Elizabeth Block – This Mumbai-born woman found herself frustrated that no amount of moisturizers or eye-creams could help her prevent what she calls “morning face,” the wrinkles that you get from sleeping on your side. So she invented a pillow that can be worn during sleep to prevent the development of these wrinkles, which over time can become permanent. The product has become so successful that it was featured on CBS3 news and mentioned in the January, 2011 issue of Prevention magazine. When asked about some early difficulties that Block struggled with, she said that maintaining a positive, persevering attitude during her company’s long start-up process while effectively juggling her full-time job and her family life was difficult and required constant support from others.

Aileen Siroy – This Filipina began her professional life in the communications field, but never lost her love for photography. With support from her friends and family, she decided to quit her job and open a photography business. She found jumping from being an employee to a business owner difficult because it meant she was in charge of marketing, finding new clients, and taking care of every aspect of the product. She also says that the personal sacrifices she has had to make in terms of time and money needed to start the business were more than she expected when she started out. She emphasizes that through it all, the support of her mother has been essential to her continued efforts.

Who knows? Maybe one of these stories will provide just the push some woman needs to take the risk that ends up changing the world.
