A quick internet search for the best women’s social network will return several lists, but surprisingly, very few of the lists include even one women’s social network that deals with broader issues of social change or business and professional development. Instead, in list after list the main focal points for women’s networks considered are parenting and motherhood, fashion and fitness, and gossip. It is incredible to see female writers themselves believing that the most accurate list of top social networking sites for women does not include any professional or business networks.

This idea directly conflicts with the reality of women in the workplace. In fact, lists of the best jobs for women are often populated with highly professional, competitive positions and fields, such as computer and networking system, financial advisors, and human resources director. These are positions that offer some of the best incomes and job security in the market right now, are the most sought after for this reason, and also take specific advantage of some of the strengths that women bring to the workplace. Some lists also include family counseling and fashion design in the list, but the top jobs in these fields are management positions that take advantage of collaborative problem solving.

The point that this list of top positions for women explicitly makes is that a women’s social network geared toward business and professionalism at the highest levels would certainly have an audience. So the question is, why hasn’t one made it into any popular lists as one of the best women’s social networks? Whether the answer is that a top contender has yet to distinguish itself, no women’s social network for business and professional development has really nailed the right formula, or some other reason, there is no question that professional women benefit immensely from an adjunct networking resource targeted specifically towards women.
